36th annual Ralph Stanley Bluegrass Festival.

We also got to see
Cherry Holmes for the 1st time.
They are an awesome family band.

It was a thrill for both of us to see
Dr. Ralph Stanley in person for the 1st time also!  He
was joined on stage by his grandson
Nathan Stanley who now plays mandolin with him &
does Elvis impersonations.
Of course his son
Ralph Stanley II played with them.
Dr. Stanley also introduced his new baby grandson
Ralph Stanley III.
What a talented family!

Oh yeah... we stayed long enough to see  Larry Sparks & his band play..
We looked for Barb & Jim Lanham on the front row...
guess they were probably back home at Joe's Pizza & Pickin' Parlor!

Speaking of family bands...our campground neighbors, a family of five from Virginia were
all learning instruments & we had our own jam going one morning with three fiddles,
banjo, bass, harmonica, & guitar.  Another friend (Barb) from Cincinnati joined us singing
some John Prine, Nitty Gritty, Carter Family, & others.
We also met some new friends from Chicago, ILL & Napa, California.
We had some great fun with our new friends!
The Baker Boys
Cherry Holmes
Ralph I & Ralph II
played her fiddle at the campground,
caught a turtle, a frog, & a really weird
5 inch centipied!
Her MOM says she won't be doing
bluegrass music!  HA HA HA
She hangs around Grandma & Grandpa too
much to not like it!
OUR NEW CALIFORNIA FRIENDS!
